How to test risky payments
Antom Shield test mode enables secure risky payment testing, designed to empower merchants to comprehensively validate shield features, get started quickly, and experience professional-grade risk prevention capabilities within a safe and fully-equipped sandbox environment.
Operational modes
Before starting testing, you need to understand the environmental isolation characteristics of different operational modes. Antom Dashboard provides two operational modes: test mode and live mode. You can use Antom Shield's modules in both modes. The core differences between test mode and live mode are as follows:
| Mode difference | Test mode | Live mode |
| Data isolation | Test data, completely isolated from real production data. | Real data from the production environment. |
| Security | Does not involve real transaction data. | Involves real transaction data: experimental features like Smart simulation use real transaction data to simulate rule performance. |
| Feature availability | Supports some Pro version features. | Depends on the specific Antom Shield contract version. |
| Data retention | Test data is not retained after switching back to live mode. | Data is stored persistently. |
| Applicable scenarios | Pro version feature experience, strategy testing, etc. | Formal business operations. |
Notes:
- Lists, rules, and other data created in test mode are stored in the test environment and not retained after switching back to the live mode.
- The Smart simulation feature in the live mode also supports risky payment testing, but its mechanism differs from the test mode. Smart simulation is based on historical real data to simulate the actual operating effect of rules. Test mode supports using specific test payment data to actively trigger corresponding rule strategies and evaluate their effectiveness.
Core features
Antom Shield test mode covers core shield scenarios, supporting merchants in functional verification and strategy tuning for the following core features within a realistic sandbox environment:
Risk insight
Risk Insight supports building a comprehensive risk view from macro trends to micro transactions, aiding in precise identification and efficient assessment of transaction risks. Main functionalities include:
- Risk decisions: Display key metrics for test transactions, such as smart alerts, decision overview, and engine decision details.
- Fraud & disputes: Visually review fraud and dispute trends, with flexible data filtering by time, card brand, and other dimensions.
- Risk transactions: Provide detailed information for test transactions, including basic transaction info, shield score, etc.
Please refer to Risk insight for more information.
Smart engine
Smart engine supports the flexible configuration of various shield tools to build a defense system tailored to business needs, and ensures that test data is securely isolated from the production environment. Main functionalities include:
- Lists: Supports the creation, viewing, and management of test blacklists and whitelists; test data is completely isolated from production data.
- Rule configuration: Supports testing custom rules (rejection rules, 3DS rules, and acceptance rules), offering built-in shield score rules, common variables, and other options.
- Risk score settings: Supports adjusting test shield score thresholds (70-90 points) to observe the impact of different thresholds on transaction decisions.
Please refer to Smart engine for more information.
Risk trading simulation
Risk trading simulation allows you to simulate transactions by providing relevant transaction information to assess corresponding transaction risks. You can perform tests via the Risk trading simulation page. The operations will not trigger any real payments or actual transaction processing. Please refer to Risk trading simulation for more information.
Note: The Risk lab and Fraud reports features are currently not supported in test mode.
